Environment
NDPE & Environmental Commitments
We believe in the importance of responsible stewardship of our environment is critical in benefiting our consumers, employees, shareholders, and society in general. As such, we recognise the importance of No Deforestation, No Peat, and No Exploitation (“NDPE”) commitments to our shareholders. As part of our commitments to NDPE, we have adopted the following principles:
Responsible Farming
Sustainable agricultural practices reduce waste and protect biodiversity.
Empowering Communities
We support local communities through fair employment and education initiatives.
Environmental Stewardship
We strive to reduce carbon emissions and promote responsible land use.
We have been committed to identifying potential loss of high carbon stock areas across our palm oil concessions in Indonesia.
To address loss of HCSA areas, we have provided compensation through support for social forestry programmes in Seluma Regency, Bengkulu Province, covering approximately 1,072 ha in Sinar Pagi Village, North Seluma District. These efforts to restore ecological functions while addressing social and economic needs through alternative livelihoods and community-based businesses.
The recovery plan is built around four key principles:
- Additionality
- Long-Lasting Impact
- Equitability
- Knowledge-Based Approach
